No free plan. Starts at $15/month for basic. Rises to $78/month for full features.
The difference
Xero is designed for accountants who manage your books. ereQa is designed for you — the business owner — to run your own finances without training.
ereQa speaks NGN, GHS, KES, ZAR out of the box. Local payment gateways, local bank formats, local tax rules — built in.
The most requested feature for African businesses. Share an invoice link on WhatsApp and your client has your account details in one tap. Xero has no equivalent.
eQ AI gives you a plain-English monthly financial health report. Not charts and data — actual insights and recommendations specific to your business.
Your account details on every invoice and link, so clients pay you directly. No Stripe, no USD-only gateways.
ereQa starts free and paid plans begin at $9/month. Xero's full-feature plan is $78/month — 8× more expensive.
Yes. ereQa is purpose-built for African SMEs — with invoice links, WhatsApp invoicing, and local currency support. Xero is powerful but complex and lacks African-specific integrations.
Xero is a genuinely well-built accounting product with an interface most people find friendlier than its competitors, strong bank feeds in the markets it serves, and a large app marketplace. Its weaknesses in Nigeria are all about market coverage rather than quality.
The bank feeds that make Xero pleasant to use largely do not cover Nigerian banks, so the biggest single advantage evaporates and you are back to uploading statements — into a tool not designed to parse them. Payment collection does not include Paystack or Flutterwave natively. There is no free plan, and the cheapest tier caps invoices low enough that most active businesses need the middle tier.
VAT is again a configured rate rather than a jurisdiction the product understands, which puts the burden of correct treatment on you.
Pick Xero if you need full accounting, work with an accountant who uses it, and operate substantially outside Nigeria where the bank feeds apply. Pick ereQa if your banking is Nigerian, your clients pay through Nigerian rails, and the daily work is invoicing and expenses rather than ledger maintenance.
