AI Expense Management for Modern Businesses | ereQa

Expense Management

Stop Guessing. Start Tracking Every Expense.

Most business owners have no idea where their money is going. ereQa changes that — upload your bank statement or log expenses manually, and eQ AI categorises every transaction automatically. See your full spending picture in under 60 seconds.

Sound familiar?

The everyday friction this replaces.

  • No idea how much you spend on advertising vs salaries vs food
  • Finding out you overspent only at the end of the month
  • Hours spent manually sorting transactions in spreadsheets
  • No clean expense reports for your accountant at tax time

Step by step

How it works

01

Upload or Log

Upload your bank statement (PDF or CSV) or log individual expenses manually. Any bank, any format.

02

eQ AI Categorises

AI reads every transaction and assigns it to the correct category — salaries, rent, marketing, food, transport, utilities.

03

Set Budgets & Alerts

Set monthly spending limits per category. Get notified before you overspend — not after.

04

Report & Export

One-click expense reports for your accountant, investor, or tax filing. PDF or CSV.

Frequently asked questions

View all FAQs
  1. eQ AI reads each transaction description (e.g. "SHOPRITE 001 LAGOS") and amount, then matches it to the most appropriate spending category. It learns your patterns and improves over time.

Most business owners can tell you their revenue to the naira and only roughly where the money went. That asymmetry is the whole problem: revenue arrives in a few large, memorable events, and spending leaves in hundreds of small forgettable ones.

Why spending is harder to see than income

Income has a document behind it — you raised the invoice, so it exists. Spending frequently has nothing: a transfer with a vague narration, a cash payment with no receipt, a card charge in a currency you do not think in. By the time you look, the context is gone and only the amount remains.

The practical consequence is that businesses systematically underestimate their costs, which means they systematically overestimate their margins and price accordingly.

Capture, then classify

  1. Start from the bank statement. Most spending is already a transaction; parsing the statement gets the bulk of it without typing.
  2. Photograph receipts for anything not on the statement — cash, personal cards, petty cash. Do it the same day.
  3. Let categorisation happen from the description, and correct it rather than originate it.
  4. Review the uncategorised pile weekly while you still remember what things were.
  5. Reconcile monthly so the picture is complete rather than indicative.

The costs that hide

  • Payment processing fees, charged on the gross including any VAT you collected, and invisible unless totalled.
  • Recurring software, individually trivial and collectively substantial.
  • Generator fuel and maintenance, which for many Nigerian businesses is a top-three cost and is often filed as miscellaneous.
  • Bank charges, which nobody reads and which add up across a year.
  • Unbilled reimbursables — costs incurred for a client that were never passed on.

What good expense records buy you

Beyond knowing your real margin: every deduction you can evidence, a defensible position if the Nigeria Revenue Service asks, and the ability to answer a lender or a grant programme with a history rather than an assertion. Under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 nearly every relief is conditional on documentation, which makes the record itself worth money.
