ereQa vs QuickBooks
QuickBooks was built for US accountants in 1983. ereQa was built for modern African and global businesses in 2024. Simpler, faster, and half the price — with WhatsApp invoicing, your bank details on every invoice, and eQ AI built in.
ereQa wins for African SMEs who want simplicity, local payments, and AI insights without the complexity of US-centric accounting software.

The difference
ereQa understands NGN, GHS, KES, ZAR — not just USD. Local banks, local gateways, local tax rules.
Send invoice links directly on WhatsApp. QuickBooks doesn't support this — because it wasn't designed for how African businesses communicate.
ereQa is designed for business owners, not accountants. No chart of accounts. No journal entries. Start invoicing in 5 minutes.
ereQa's eQ AI gives you a monthly financial health score, anomaly detection, and plain-English insights. QuickBooks has reports — ereQa has intelligence.
Your bank details are on every invoice. Clients pay you directly in naira and tell you in one tap. No US payment processor needed.
ereQa starts free and paid plans begin at $9/month. QuickBooks starts at $30/month — and rises steeply. More features, less cost.
Yes. ereQa is designed specifically for African SMEs — supporting NGN (₦), invoice links with your bank details, WhatsApp invoicing, and NRS VAT. QuickBooks is US-centric and requires an accountant to set up properly.
QuickBooks is the most widely used small business accounting product in the world and it earned that position. If you need double-entry accounting with a general ledger, an accountant who already knows the interface, and a deep integration ecosystem, it is a reasonable choice anywhere — including Nigeria.
If those are your requirements, no amount of local convenience substitutes for them. ereQa is not double-entry accounting software and does not pretend to be.
QuickBooks was designed around US accounting practice and its assumptions show. Payment collection routes through processors built for other markets rather than Paystack, Flutterwave or Bani. VAT is a configurable tax rate rather than the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 treatment, which means you are responsible for getting the treatment right rather than the software. There is no free tier, and pricing is in dollars against a naira revenue line.
And invoices are assumed to travel by email. In a market where the payment conversation happens on WhatsApp, that is a workflow mismatch rather than a missing button.
Pick QuickBooks if you need statutory-grade accounting, have an accountant who works in it, or run inventory and payroll through the same system. Pick ereQa if what you actually do every day is raise invoices, chase payment, log expenses, reconcile a Nigerian bank statement and hand clean records to an accountant at year end — and you would rather not pay for a general ledger you never open.
The two are not mutually exclusive. ereQa exports into QuickBooks, which is a common arrangement: the business runs day to day in one and the accountant closes the year in the other.
