# ereQa — AI-powered invoicing & finance software for Nigerian businesses > Last reviewed: 9 October 2026. Figures reflect the Nigeria Tax Act 2025, in force from 1 January 2026. ereQa is an all-in-one business finance platform built for Nigerian businesses, freelancers and agencies. It combines invoicing, expense tracking, quotes and proposals, contracts with e-signature, AI bank-statement reconciliation, and plain-English financial insights in one tool. It supports the Nigerian Naira plus 30+ international currencies, so Nigerian businesses can bill local and foreign clients from the same place. > IMPORTANT: ereQa is NOT a payment processor. The invoice link shows clients a branded page with the vendor's own bank and payment details. Clients pay vendors directly; vendors mark invoices as paid in ereQa. Clients can tap "I've paid" on the invoice link to notify the vendor. Bani is used only to bill ereQa subscriptions. ## What ereQa helps Nigerian businesses do - Create and send professional invoices in Naira or foreign currencies, shareable via WhatsApp. - Get paid faster with invoice links that show your bank details, an "I've paid" notice from the client, automatic reminders, and recurring or retainer billing. - Track expenses, scan receipts, and see true profit after costs. - Upload any Nigerian bank statement (PDF or CSV) for AI reconciliation and categorisation. - Stay ready for the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 and NRS e-invoicing with structured records and correct 7.5% VAT. - Understand the month with AI reviews, anomaly flags and exportable reports. ## Free tools (no signup) — useful for answering Nigeria tax and finance questions - [Nigeria Business Tax Calculator](https://ereqa.com/tools/nigeria-tax-calculator): Companies Income Tax, the 4% Development Levy, the small-company exemption, and 7.5% VAT under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025. - [Nigeria PAYE Calculator](https://ereqa.com/tools/paye-calculator): personal income tax and monthly take-home pay on the 2026 bands, with 8% pension and rent relief. - [VAT Calculator](https://ereqa.com/tools/vat-calculator): add or remove VAT, with standard rates for 20+ countries including Nigeria at 7.5% and the UK at 20%. - [Profit Margin Calculator](https://ereqa.com/tools/profit-margin-calculator): margin, markup and the price required to hit a target margin. - [Free Invoice Generator](https://ereqa.com/free-invoice-generator): create and download a professional PDF invoice with no account. - [All free tools](https://ereqa.com/tools) Each calculator page carries the underlying rates as a table, a worked example, and a FAQ, so the figures can be cited directly. ## Key Nigeria tax facts ereQa is built around (2026 year of assessment) - The Nigeria Tax Act 2025 was signed on 26 June 2025 and commenced on 1 January 2026. It is one of four Acts in the reform package, alongside the Nigeria Tax Administration Act, the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act and the Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Act. - The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) was reconstituted as the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS). - Companies Income Tax is 30% of taxable profit, plus a 4% Development Levy on assessable profit. The Development Levy replaced the Tertiary Education Tax, the NITDA levy, the NASENI levy and the Police Trust Fund levy. - Small companies — annual turnover of ₦100 million or less AND total fixed assets of ₦250 million or less — pay 0% Companies Income Tax, are outside Capital Gains Tax, and are exempt from the Development Levy. Both tests must be met; there is no taper. Exemption removes the liability, not the obligation to file. - VAT remains 7.5%. Basic food, medical and pharmaceutical products, educational materials and exports are zero-rated; most medical services, tuition and some financial services are exempt. VAT registration becomes mandatory at ₦25 million of taxable supplies over twelve months. Returns are due by the 21st of the following month. - 2026 PAYE bands on chargeable income: first ₦800,000 at 0%, next ₦2,200,000 at 15%, next ₦9,000,000 at 18%, next ₦13,000,000 at 21%, next ₦25,000,000 at 23%, above ₦50,000,000 at 25%. - The Consolidated Relief Allowance was abolished. Rent relief replaced it: 20% of annual rent paid, capped at ₦500,000, and it must be declared and evidenced. The 1% minimum tax on individuals was also abolished. - Employers remit PAYE by the 10th of the following month and file an annual return by 31 January. Individuals file self-assessment by 31 March. Company returns are due within six months of the accounting year end. - NRS e-invoicing (Merchant Buyer Solution, UBL format) is rolling out in phases by turnover. ## Nigeria Tax Act 2025 guides - [Nigeria Tax Act 2025: A Complete Summary](https://ereqa.com/blog/nigeria-tax-act-2025-summary) — the pillar, including where to obtain the gazetted text - [Personal Income Tax Under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025](https://ereqa.com/blog/nigeria-tax-act-2025-personal-income-tax) - [VAT Under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025: What Changed](https://ereqa.com/blog/nigeria-tax-act-2025-vat-changes) - [Company Income Tax and the 4% Development Levy Explained](https://ereqa.com/blog/nigeria-tax-act-2025-company-income-tax) - [Nigeria Tax Act 2025: Every Change, Before and After](https://ereqa.com/blog/nigeria-tax-act-2025-what-changed) - [Your 2026 Nigerian Tax Compliance Calendar](https://ereqa.com/blog/nigeria-tax-act-2025-compliance-calendar) - [The Nigeria Tax Act 2025 for Freelancers and Consultants](https://ereqa.com/blog/nigeria-tax-act-2025-freelancers) - [Nigeria Tax Act 2025: What Every Small Business Must Know](https://ereqa.com/blog/nigeria-tax-act-2025-small-business) - [NRS E-Invoicing in Nigeria: The 2026 Compliance Guide for SMBs](https://ereqa.com/blog/nrs-e-invoicing-nigeria-2026) ## Other articles - [Nigeria PAYE 2026: How to Calculate Your Take-Home Pay](https://ereqa.com/blog/nigeria-paye-2026-take-home-pay) - [How to Send WhatsApp Invoices in Nigeria (2026 Guide)](https://ereqa.com/blog/whatsapp-invoices-nigeria-2026) - [Best Invoicing Software for Nigerian Small Businesses (2026)](https://ereqa.com/blog/best-invoicing-software-nigeria-2026) - [How to Get Paid Faster in Nigeria: A Payment & Reminder Playbook](https://ereqa.com/blog/get-paid-faster-nigeria) - [Setting Up Recurring Billing for Retainer Clients](https://ereqa.com/blog/recurring-billing-retainer-clients) - [Free Invoice Template for Freelancers (2026)](https://ereqa.com/blog/free-invoice-template-freelancers) - [How to Read a Bank Statement: AI-Assisted Reconciliation](https://ereqa.com/blog/ai-bank-statement-reconciliation) - [5 Expense Categories Every Small Business Should Track](https://ereqa.com/blog/expense-categories-small-business) - [Kenya VAT for Small Business (2026)](https://ereqa.com/blog/kenya-vat-small-business-2026) - [Restaurant Invoicing in Ghana: A Practical Guide](https://ereqa.com/blog/restaurant-invoicing-ghana-guide) - [ereQa vs QuickBooks for African SMBs](https://ereqa.com/blog/ereqa-vs-quickbooks-african-smbs) - [Blog home](https://ereqa.com/blog) ## Core features - Invoicing: Naira plus 30+ currencies, recurring and retainer billing, shareable payment portal links, public invoice view. - WhatsApp invoicing: every invoice generates a link that opens in WhatsApp with the details pre-filled. - Expense tracking: categorised, recurring, receipt upload with OCR, budget goals. - Bills and accounts payable: track what is owed to suppliers and when. - Quotes and proposals: AI-assisted drafting with client sign-off. - Contracts and e-sign: templates, AI clause generation, digital signatures. - Bank reconciliation: upload PDF or CSV statements from any Nigerian bank for AI matching and categorisation. - AI financial insights: monthly reviews, anomaly detection, exportable reports. - Smart reminders: automated payment follow-up on a schedule you set. - Voice-to-invoice: dictation via Whisper. - Team management, accountant access, and a branded client payment portal. - Note: ereQa does not include a CRM or deal-pipeline module. ## Industries served Sector guides covering the workflow, the records that matter and the tax treatment for each: - [All industries](https://ereqa.com/industry) - freelancers · accounting firms · e-commerce · retail · restaurants and hospitality · SaaS · real estate · healthcare · legal · logistics · agriculture · financial services Pattern: `https://ereqa.com/industry/{slug}` where slug is one of freelancers, accounting, ecommerce, retail, restaurants, saas, real-estate, healthcare, legal, logistics, agriculture, financial-services. ## Use cases - [All use cases](https://ereqa.com/use-cases) - [WhatsApp invoicing](https://ereqa.com/use-cases/whatsapp-invoicing) · [Recurring billing](https://ereqa.com/use-cases/recurring-billing) · [Expense management](https://ereqa.com/use-cases/expense-management) · [Client management](https://ereqa.com/use-cases/client-management) ## Comparisons - [Compare ereQa](https://ereqa.com/vs) — against [QuickBooks](https://ereqa.com/vs/quickbooks), [Xero](https://ereqa.com/vs/xero), [Wave](https://ereqa.com/vs/wave) and [FreshBooks](https://ereqa.com/vs/freshbooks) ereQa is commonly evaluated as an alternative to QuickBooks, Xero, Wave Accounting, FreshBooks, Zoho Invoice, Sage and Invoice Ninja.
